Where It All Began (Early 1900s – 1950s)

Our Roots

Our story goes back over a century, to the early 1900s, when our great-grandparents worked as stitchers in the royal palaces of Jaipur. Back then, tailoring wasn’t just about making clothes—it was a revered craft, reserved for the Maharajas and Maharanis. Every stitch had to be flawless, every fabric meticulously chosen, because they weren’t just making garments; they were creating art fit for royalty.

As time moved forward, the second generation (1950s – 1980s) took up the same craft. They continued working within palace circles, handcrafting garments that carried the weight of tradition. Though opportunities outside the palace grew, they remained committed to their roots, valuing precision and quality over mass production.

Keeping Tradition Alive in a Changing World (1980s – 2000s)

The Transition

By the 1980s and 1990s, the world was evolving rapidly. The rise of machine-made fashion and large-scale textile production threatened to erase the legacy of handcrafted garments.

It was during this time that the third generation (1990s – 2010s) decided to step beyond royal households and bring their craftsmanship to a wider audience. They built a small yet passionate team of artisans, ensuring that their designs still carried the touch of meticulous handwork. They named it "GDG Artist Tailor" in 1997. This wasn’t about competing with fast fashion—it was about preserving a legacy in a modern world.

A Dream Brought to Life (2018 – Present)

The Birth of Vidalia

By the late 2001s, the fourth generation—two brothers and one sister—knew they had to take things further. Growing up in a home filled with fabrics, embroidery threads, and stories of a fading world of craftsmanship, they felt a deep responsibility:

To honor the past while embracing the future.

In 2012, after years of planning, learning, and refining their craft, Vidalia was born by refining "GDG Artist Tailor". It wasn’t just another fashion brand; it was a vision—to blend India’s rich textile traditions with contemporary designs, bringing forth a collection that speaks to the modern woman while staying rooted in heritage.

Today, Vidalia offers graceful ethnic wear for India and elegant western wear for global markets. But more than that, it stands as a tribute to four generations of passion, perseverance, and timeless craftsmanship.

And as we continue this journey, we invite you to be part of it. Because when you wear Vidalia, you’re not just wearing fabric—you’re wearing a story that’s been a century in the making.
